Questions and answers

The things people actually ask.

If the answer you need is not here, write to us — a person reads every message.

Joining

How do I join, and is it free?

Anyone building or backing a company can apply, and it is free. You fill in the application form, a person reads it, and your profile goes live once it is approved.

There is no paid tier, no trial, and nothing to cancel. If that changes we will say so before it does, not afterwards.

Why can I not sign in yet?

Because your application has not been approved yet. This catches almost everybody, and it is the one thing the form did not say clearly enough for a long time.

You choose a password when you apply, but it does not work until a person has read your application and approved it. Nothing is broken and you do not need to apply again — the account opens the moment the profile is approved, and we email you when it does.

How long does review take?

Usually within 48 hours. Every application is read by a person rather than scored by a rule, which is slower and is the entire point: it is what keeps the network worth being part of. Adding your website and LinkedIn when you apply makes it faster, because otherwise we look them up by hand.

Why do funds need a work email, when angels do not?

A fund, a corporate venture arm, a family office, a sovereign fund, an accelerator or a growth fund has its own domain. An application from one of those arriving from a free mailbox is usually somebody who picked the wrong account type — and occasionally somebody claiming a firm they do not work at.

Angels and angel groups are deliberately exempt. Plenty of serious angels really do invest from a personal address, and turning them away to make a rule tidy would cost more than the rule is worth. If you invest your own money, choose Angel investor and any address is fine.

My application was rejected. Why?

The email you received says which of a small number of reasons applied. Most rejections are about timing and fit rather than merit — we are onboarding a small founding cohort, and being early is a real constraint rather than a polite excuse.

You are welcome to apply again as we open up. If something in the decision looks plainly wrong — the wrong firm, the wrong person — tell us through Contact us and a person will look again.

Your profile and your firm

What does the verified badge mean, and how do I get it?

Verified means a person at Kaldren has confirmed that the profile is who it says it is — that the firm exists, that the address belongs to it, and that the person holding the account works there. It is not a judgement about quality, returns or reputation.

You do not apply for it. We verify profiles as we review them, and the fastest way to be verified is to sign up with your work email at your own domain and fill in your website and LinkedIn. If your profile is live but not yet verified, it usually means we have not got to it yet.

Can more than one person from my firm be on Kaldren?

Yes. The firm is the profile, and the people are underneath it. Whoever signs up first becomes an Admin and can invite colleagues from Settings.

Invitations go only to addresses on your firm’s own domain — that is what lets us trust the list without checking each person individually. Colleagues sign in with their own password, never a shared one. Posts and jobs appear under the firm’s name; messages and introductions show the individual, because a founder needs to know who they are talking to.

An Admin can promote a colleague to Admin, send them a password-reset link, or remove them. Removing somebody takes away their access; the firm keeps its posts, messages and connections.

My firm is listed and I did not add it. How do I remove it?

Kaldren keeps a directory of investment firms built from public sources, so that we can introduce founders to the right people. It is not published — it is visible only to Kaldren staff, not to members and not to search engines. Your firm may still appear in it before anybody there has ever visited the site, which is why we write and ask.

Two things you can do. Claim it, and the page becomes yours to correct and keep current — that is what most firms want once they see it. Or ask us to remove it, and we will take it down. Use Contact us and choose My firm is listed here. A person handles it, and we do not argue with you about it.

Who sees what

Who can see my pitch deck?

Only investors on Kaldren, and only ones we have approved. A deck is never public, never indexed by a search engine, and never visible to other founders.

You can see who opened it and how far they read. That view is deliberately narrow: we record which investor opened it and which page they reached, and nothing else — no location, no address, no device.

You can remove a deck at any time, and the link stops working immediately.

Who can see my cheque size?

Only signed-in members, and only the range you chose to publish. It is not visible to anybody who is signed out. If you would rather not show it at all, leave it blank — an investor profile works perfectly well without it.

How do I ask for an introduction?

Open the profile of the person you want to reach and use the introduction request. It goes to a mutual connection who can decide whether to pass it on — they are never obliged to, and nothing is sent without them. Requests are limited per period on purpose: an introduction that costs nothing to send is worth nothing to receive.

Email and your data

I did not get an email from you.

Check the spam folder first — that is where most of them are. If you use Gmail, also look under Promotions.

If it genuinely has not arrived, you can ask us to send it again from the sign-in page. If that still does not work, the likeliest cause is a typo in the address you signed up with, and we will need to fix it by hand — tell us and we will sort it out.

How do I stop the newsletter?

Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately without asking you to sign in first. You can also change how often it arrives, or pause it, in Settings. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not affect emails about your own account.

How do I delete my account or export my data?

Both are in Settings, and neither requires asking us. Export gives you a file of everything we hold about you. Deleting removes your profile, your posts and your messages.

Deletion is permanent and we cannot undo it, so we ask you to confirm. If you would rather step away without deleting anything, pause the newsletter instead.

Still stuck? Contact us. Please do not send us your password — we will never ask for it, and nobody here can read it.
